A New Era of Social Justice Begins Now, Says Vijay in His First Address

After taking the oath on May 10, 2026, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu’s new Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay won hearts in his very first speech by presenting himself as an “ordinary man.”
Speaking in an emotional tone, he said that he carries no royal blood, and it is precisely for this reason that ordinary people have embraced him so wholeheartedly. He made it clear that he does not believe in deceiving people with false promises and firmly declared that from today, a new era of true secularism and social justice is beginning in the state.
Hinting at administrative firmness, Vijay announced that there would be no second center of power in his government other than himself. Through this statement, he effectively conveyed to his coalition partners that he would never take decisions under pressure or on anyone else’s orders.
To prove himself through action, he asked the people for some time so that everyone can properly assess his competence.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already congratulated Vijay and assured full support from the central government for the development and prosperity of the people of the state.
According to his election affidavit, the new chief minister’s total assets amount to 6.24 billion taka, a large portion of which he has kept as savings in banks.
Vijay also said that to ensure transparency in governance, he is seriously considering publishing a white paper on the current financial condition of the state in the near future.
