In the US midterm elections, Democrats are ahead in both chambers of Congress (Senate and House of Representatives). In the Senate, Trump opponents are ahead with 46 seats. So far, Republicans hold 39 seats. Republicans are also ahead in the House of Representatives with 117 seats.
According to a forecast by CBS News, a partner media outlet of BBC in the United States, control of the lower chamber of the US Congress, the House of Representatives, is going into the hands of the Democrats. Through this, they are taking control of the chamber from the Republican majority.
The forecast said Democrats will win at least 218 seats and Republicans will get at least 160 seats.
If the forecast proves true, Trump's absolute power will be curtailed. If Democrats gain a majority, Trump will have to go to them for any decision of national importance. Without their support, none of appointing judges, allocating government spending, or enacting laws will be possible.
