Vote counting is underway in the legislative assembly elections of the Union Territory of Puducherry, India.
Out of a total of 30 seats, early trends show that the ruling All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) is leading in 8 seats.
The opposition alliance, comprising the Congress, DMK, and other regional parties, is ahead in 3 seats.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 1 seat.
Analysts believe that the government led by Chief Minister N. Rangaswamy of the NR Congress is likely to return to power.
