US President Donald Trump held separate discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy during their recent visit to Washington.

Both leaders traveled to the US capital to attend a memorial service for Senator Lindsey Graham, an influential Republican and staunch supporter of Israel and Ukraine who passed away earlier this month.

Trump shared his positive impressions of these encounters through short updates on Truth Social, though he did not reveal specific details regarding the various topics discussed.

Regarding the meeting with Netanyahu, Trump wrote, “Had a very good meeting! Obviously, many important subjects were discussed,” while Netanyahu himself described the session as “excellent”.

Before the talk, Trump had expressed frustration with Netanyahu because details of his planned talking points on Iran had leaked to the public.

These diplomatic encounters took place amid heightening regional tensions, following the 28 February attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel, which drew retaliatory strikes from Tehran against Israel and Gulf nations hosting American military bases.

These ongoing military operations in Iran and Lebanon have resulted in thousands of fatalities and displaced millions of residents. Moreover, the Gaza ceasefire has faced repeated violations since its October commencement.

According to Gaza health officials, Israeli strikes have killed nearly 1,200 Palestinians, primarily civilians, while Israel states that militants have killed four of its soldiers during this period.

In his discussion with Zelenskiy, Trump focused on Ukraine’s plans to manufacture Patriot missile interceptors and the possibility of restarting peace negotiations with Russia, which launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Reflecting on the exchange, Trump noted, “Many things were discussed. The meeting went very well,” and Zelenskiy also characterized the encounter as a “good meeting”.
