Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that he made a secret visit to the United Arab Emirates at the height of the war with Iran. According to the claim, the visit was made to meet UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
On Wednesday night, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said the visit led to a “historic breakthrough” in relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
According to Reuters, the two leaders held several hours of talks on March 26 in Al Ain, an oasis city near the Oman border. A source told Reuters that during the conflict with Iran, the head of Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, David Barnea, visited the UAE at least twice to coordinate military operations.
The intelligence chief’s visits were first reported by The Wall Street Journal. (Reuters)
