Sri Lanka’s Bribery and Corruption Investigation Commission has arrested Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson FU Wootler said to Reuters that the commission arrested Yoshitha on allegations of bribery and corruption. He was later produced before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Colombo, which granted him bail.
Earlier this month, the commission said in a statement that it was investigating allegations that Yoshitha, the second son of Mahinda Rajapaksa, did not follow proper procedures when he joined the Sri Lankan Navy in 2006.
