The crew of the container ship that came under an Iranian attack off the coast of Oman has been rescued by local authorities.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said this in a statement on Sunday morning.
Citing military authorities, the British maritime agency said the damaged vessel is located east of Oman and that its crew had been safely rescued.
Through the ship’s CSO, officials aboard the vessel informed UKMTO that the crew had abandoned the ship and are currently aboard a lifeboat.
A Cyprus-flagged commercial container ship caught fire on Saturday after being damaged in an attack off the coast of Oman.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In response, US forces have carried out strikes on 140 Iranian military installations.
