US Secret Service Protecting Iranian President at UN

The United Nations General Assembly is currently underway in New York and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is attending the session. The US Secret Service is responsible for his security during the event, according to US officials.
The officials said the US State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service is responsible for the security of other Iranian officials.
Officials told CNN that members of the New York Police Department’s Intelligence Bureau are assisting the federal security forces assigned to protect Pezeshkian and other members of the Iranian delegation. NYPD intelligence officers and highway patrol personnel are also involved in the security arrangements.
As a founding member of the United Nations, Iran has maintained its presence at the global diplomatic gathering for decades. In recent years, President Pezeshkian and his predecessor, Ebrahim Raisi, have led the Iranian delegation.
Pezeshkian is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.
US President Donald Trump delivered his address on Tuesday. During his speech, he threatened to destroy Iran. However, representatives of the two countries held a meeting on the sidelines of the General Assembly on the same day.
