A terrifying surge of the Bhote Koshi River suddenly swept
through the area on Wednesday. Some people escaped death by running. Some drove
their vehicles. Others survived by clinging to electric wires. For some others,
survival was simply a matter of luck. Those who watched homes, settlements and
