The ICC has announced the schedule for several major international cricket events from 2027 to 2031. During this period, Bangladesh and India will jointly host the 2031 ODI World Cup. Pakistan will host the 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup. Australia and New Zealand will host the men’s T20 World Cup in the same year.
Following a meeting in Dubai, the ICC confirmed the schedule of major international tournaments for the coming years to the cricket boards of its member countries. Between 2027 and 2031, the governing body plans to organize 12 men’s tournaments, seven women’s tournaments and five Under 19 tournaments. The schedule also includes the qualifying rounds for all tournaments.
The women’s and men’s T20 World Cups will be held consecutively in 2028. The 12 team women’s tournaments in Pakistan will begin on September 7 and continue until October 1.
The 20 team men’s T20 World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand from October 12 to November 12. There will be only 11 days between the two tournaments.
Meanwhile, the qualifying rounds for the men’s and women’s cricket events at the 2028 Olympics will be held in Los Angeles in January and February. Cricket will return to the Olympics for the first time since 1904. The ICC has yet to finalize the venues for the qualifying rounds. Eight teams will compete in each category.
England will also host the final of the 2029 World Test Championship. The match will be held from June 8 to 12.
The ICC has also revised the schedule for the 2030 men’s T20 World Cup. The tournament will be held in England, Ireland and Scotland. Although it was initially planned for June, it will now take place in July and August.
