Joel Davis, Adam Zampa, and Matt Renshaw—the three spinners combined took 8 wickets. As a result, Bangladesh were bowled out for 131 runs in 19 overs in the first match of the three-match T20 series against Australia.
At the Chattogram Flight Lieutenant Birsreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat. With Litton not in the XI, Parvez Hossain Emon will keep wickets behind the stumps. Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed are not in the XI; Abdul Gaffar Saklayen is making his debut. Soumya Sarkar has returned to the T20 side after December 2024 and has been included in the XI.
Australia's XI sees the return of stars like Mitchell Marsh and Tim David. Alongside them, left-arm spinner Joel Davis is making his debut. Leg-spinner Nikhil Choudhury, born in India and later migrating to Australia, has also been included in the XI.
Bangladesh's batsmen could not settle at the crease. Their level of skill in T20 cricket still needs significant improvement, which was evident from their style of play. While the ODI side has found balance through the experience of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Mosaddek Hossain, the Bangladesh batsmen are yet to show that same maturity in T20s. Tanzid Tamim offered a simple catch to Xavier Bartlett. Soumya Sarkar also failed to capitalize on his return to T20 cricket after a long time, edging Zampa to Nikhil Choudhury for 17. Towhid Hridoy hit a six off his first scoring shot but could only manage 8 runs. Parvez Emon made 10, Shamim Patwari scored 1, and Sheikh Mehedi top-scored with 29.
Joel Davis took 3 wickets for 17 runs, Zampa took 3 for 18, and Renshaw claimed 2 wickets.
