Hamza Chowdhury is the only Bangladeshi to have played in the English Premier League. Now another Bangladeshi, Farhaan Ali Wahid, has played for Premier League club, Fulham. He featured in a pre-season friendly against Norwich City yesterday (Friday), though Fulham lost the match 2-0.

The 18-year-old Farhaan came on as a substitute in the 46th minute, replacing winger Kevin. He had a long-range curving shot saved by Norwich goalkeeper Vladan Kovačević. With such a promising performance, he can dream of playing in the Premier League under coach Álvaro Arbeloa. Fulham have four more friendlies before the new season starts, giving Farhan ample opportunity to showcase his talent.

Farhaaan joined Fulham at age 12 from Chelsea's academy. He has scored 7 goals in 17 matches for Fulham's Under-18 team. He also scored on his debut for the Under-21 side in the Premier League International Cup. In November 2025, he was named Premier League 2 Player of the Month. With his exceptional pace, dribbling skills, and goal-scoring ability, he is considered a bright future prospect for the club.

Farhan's connection to Bangladesh has sparked new hope among football fans in the country. The possibility of a player with top European league experience playing for the Bangladesh national team points to an exciting future.

Fahad Karim, Vice-President of the Bangladesh Football Federation, spoke to Agamir Somoy about the possibility of Farhan playing for Bangladesh: "Farhan has officially informed us that he wants to play for Bangladesh. Since then, we have started the formalities to secure him. Two weeks ago, Farhan's birth registration was completed. He is now officially a Bangladeshi citizen. His biometrics for a passport will be done soon. I hope that after Hamza, we are about to get another British-Bangladeshi player."

Hamza Chowdhury won the FA Cup with Leicester City and also captained the club that won the Premier League title. His decision to join the Bangladesh national team has significantly increased interest among the diaspora to play in the red and green jersey. Shamit Shome has also joined from Canada. Now, if a talented young player like Farhaan Ali is added, Bangladesh's football will undoubtedly be enriched.
