The sky has been clear in Nagoya since Wednesday morning. After five days of rain, the bright sunshine has brought relief. However, the outfield at the Korogi Sports Park Cricket Ground in Nisshin City has not completely dried. There is still thick mud in front of the dressing rooms of both teams. Mats have been laid over those areas as a precaution.
The first semifinal of the Asian Games began at 10:15 am local time, one hour and 15 minutes behind schedule. Bangladesh and Pakistan are facing each other in the match. Seven overs were cut from the match because of the delay. Bangladesh are batting after losing the toss in the 13 over match.
Bangladesh are playing with four spinners and two pacers. Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Sheikh Mehedi Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain are joined by pacers Shoriful Islam and Mustafizur Rahman. Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Saif Hasan opened the innings. Captain Litton Kumar Das, Towhid Hridoy and Parvez Hossain Emon also have the main responsibility of building a competitive total in 13 overs.
Bangladesh’s two openers scored 10 runs from the first over bowled by Ahmed Daniyal. However, Tanzid Hasan was dismissed for seven runs in the second over after being caught at long off.
