Bangladesh make winning start by beating South Korea

Bangladesh finally secured a victory at the Asian Games. After failing to get the expected results in the opening days of the tournament, success came in men’s kabaddi. In their first Group A match, the red and green team secured an impressive 39-35 victories over strong South Korea. Bangladesh’s athletes had failed to win any of their eight events yesterday.

The match at Tokai Citizen Gymnasium in Japan was thrilling and highly competitive from the beginning. The contest quickly became intense as both teams launched attacks and counterattacks. Bangladesh went into the break with a narrow 17 -16 leads at the end of the first half. After the break, Bangladesh increased the intensity of their game. They kept putting pressure on the Korean defense and continued to collect points through raids and tackles.

Bangladesh secured the victory by leading 22 -19 in the second half. The overall score across the two halves stood at 39 -35. The key difference in the match came from the ‘all out’ points. Bangladesh inflicted two all outs on South Korea and collected four points. South Korea managed to inflict one all out on Bangladesh and earned two points.

Both teams also fought evenly in defense and earned two points each from one successful ‘super tackle.’ In terms of overall discipline, Bangladesh players received two green cards but did not face any unpleasant situation that resulted in a yellow or red card.

After their confident start, the red and green representatives will face strong Chinese Taipei in their second match tomorrow.
