The Bangladesh Under 19 cricket team was scheduled to fly to Oman this morning. Initially, it was reported that the team could not travel due to visa complications. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) later said the team’s departure for Oman had been temporarily postponed for a five match ODI series against Afghanistan.
The tour was scheduled to be the first assignment for the new batch of youth team players. However, the cricketers were informed last night that they would not be able to take their morning flight because their visas had not been issued. Bangladesh is expected to travel within the next day or two.
The BCB said the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), the host of the series, had informed it that it was still waiting for approval from the Omani authorities. The visa process has been coordinated through the ACB since early September.
The BCB also said the team was ready to make the necessary travel arrangements as soon as the visas were issued.
The series is scheduled to begin on October 13 at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground. The remaining matches will be played on October 15, 18, 20 and 23.
