BCB Election Scheduled for June 7

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) election has been scheduled for June 7. According to the election schedule published on Saturday, voting will take place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the BCB office located at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The votes will be counted, and the final results will be announced on the same day.
According to the schedule signed by BCB Chief Election Commissioner Ahsanul Karim, a total of 23 directors will be elected to the cricket board, following traditional procedures. Among them, 10 directors will be elected from Category-1, 12 directors from Category-2, and 1 director from Category-3.
The election process will commence on May 17 with the publication of the draft voter list. The list will be posted on the notice board at the BCB office and uploaded to the board's official website at 5:00 PM on that day. Objections regarding the draft voter list will be accepted on May 18, and hearings for those objections will take place on May 19. The final voter list will be published on the afternoon of the same day.
Nomination papers will be distributed on May 20 and 21. Candidates must collect their nomination forms by paying a fee of Tk20,000. Submission of nomination papers will be accepted on May 21 and 22, followed by the scrutiny of the nomination papers on May 23.
Appeals and hearings regarding the rejection or validity of nomination papers will be held on May 24. The deadline for withdrawing nominations is May 25, and the final list of candidates will be published on that day.
According to the schedule, arrangements have also been made for postal and electronic voting (e-ballots). Relevant councilors can apply for postal or e-ballots by 11:00 PM on May 25. These ballots can be sent from June 1 to June 6. However, postal and e-ballots must reach the Returning Officer's office by 1:00 PM on June 7. It has been explicitly stated that any ballot received after the deadline will not be accepted.
