Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is playing in this year’s Nepal Premier League. After arriving in Nepal, Shakib has been impressed by the fans’ passion for cricket. The large crowds at every match and their enthusiasm for the game have particularly caught his attention.
Speaking to host Yesha Sagar about his experience in Nepal, Shakib said, “It feels great to be in Nepal. The fans are deeply involved in the game. A lot of spectators come to every match. I am really looking forward to this tournament.”
Shakib is also satisfied with the pitch, in addition to his experience off the field. He said, “The pitch was very good. It would have been better if we had scored another 15 runs. It is very important to bowl at the stumps here.”
Shakib also praised his teammate Arjun Gharti’s batting. Gharti remained unbeaten on 40 off 25 balls. Shakib said, “Arjun batted brilliantly. He took his time before attacking towards the end.”
Shakib made his debut in the Nepal Premier League against Sudurpaschim Royals last night. Bangladesh’s Sheikh Mehedi Hasan also played in the same match for Pokhara Avengers.
Batting first, Pokhara scored 145 runs. Shakib contributed 14 runs off 16 balls. Mehedi opened the innings and scored 32 runs off 21 balls.
In reply, Sudurpaschim secured victory in just 16.5 overs. Mehedi took one wicket for 31 runs, while Shakib claimed one wicket for 24 runs.
