Imrul frustrated with team selection

Bangladesh faces a difficult equation in its match against Afghanistan. The team is struggling against Afghanistan in the battle to reach the final of the tri nation series. With six wickets down for 141 runs, the prospect of Hridoy and his teammates posting a big total is fading. Amid this situation, former opener Imrul Kayes has expressed his frustration over the selection of the playing XI.
Imrul has called for players’ talent and performance to be given the highest priority in team selection. In a social media post on Wednesday, Imrul, who played 131 international matches for Bangladesh, shared his views on the matter.
Imrul wrote that the cricket board should select the best possible playing XI through an impartial and transparent process based entirely on merit and performance. Noting that the national cricket team represents the entire nation, he said there should be no room for personal emotions or nepotism in team selection.
In his Facebook post, Imrul further wrote, “I firmly believe that the cricket board should select the best possible playing XI through an impartial and transparent process based entirely on merit and performance.
Cricket represents an entire nation. Therefore, there should be no place for emotional decisions or nepotism in selecting the national team. Enough is enough. The time has come to prioritize merit, fairness and the interests of the country above everything else.”
However, Imrul did not mention anyone by name or specify the context in his post.
