Bangladesh has posted a challenging total in the third ODI of the series against Australia. Thanks to brilliant batting from Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das, and Mosaddek Hossain, the Tigers scored 274 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. All three registered half-centuries. However, Hridoy's innings could have reached three figures. If Bangladesh wins this match, they will become the first Asian team to whitewash Australia in ODIs.
Due to injury, Mehidy Hasan Miraz is not in the playing XI. Regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is leading the side, and Sheikh Mehdi Hasan has replaced Miraz. Nahid Rana is resting, while Shariful Islam has been given an opportunity. After Soumya Sarkar (2) departed early, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Shanto batted cautiously to get through the powerplay, but Tanzid Tamim was dismissed on the very last ball of the powerplay.
After a 51-run second-wicket partnership, Tanzid Tamim departed for 19 runs off 20 balls. After that, the partnership between Shanto and Litton didn't click. Shanto was dismissed for 24 runs off 50 balls by Matt Renshaw. Hridoy then steadied the ship after the early collapse, building a big partnership with Litton for the fourth wicket. Their partnership yielded 92 runs off 107 balls. After Litton left the field due to being retired hurt, Mosaddek Hossain came in and increased the run rate.
Hridoy was cautious early on but opened up after reaching his half-century. He took 62 balls for his first 50 runs but finished with 83 runs off 88 balls, hitting 8 fours. Mosaddek once again played the finisher's role, similar to the first match of the series. His unbeaten 56 off 51 balls made Bangladesh's total substantial. Litton, who had left the field on 48 runs, returned to bat after Sheikh Mehdi Hasan was dismissed. He added another 10 runs to his previous score and remained unbeaten on 58 runs.
Xavier Bartlett and Matt Renshaw took 2 wickets each for Australia, while Ben Dwarshuis claimed one.
