Japanese Prime Minister's special advisor meets with Tarique Rahman

Special Advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister, Uno Yoshimasa, held a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting took place today (Tuesday) at 12:30 PM at the Prime Minister's Office in the Secretariat.

The Prime Minister's Press Wing informed that discussions were held on further strengthening the strategic partnership between Bangladesh and Japan and taking bilateral relations to new heights.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Tarek Rahman called for Japan's more active cooperation in human resource development, skill enhancement, and various sectors. He urged Japan to take initiatives to recruit skilled health workers, agricultural laborers, and drivers from Bangladesh by developing proficiency in the Japanese language.

The Prime Minister also called for further increasing investment by Japanese companies in Bangladesh. He stated that if Japan is interested in establishing another industrial park like the one in Araihazar, Narayanganj, the Bangladesh government would provide all-out cooperation. Additionally, he emphasized working jointly to expand trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting also discussed the inauguration of the third terminal of Shahjalal International Airport on December 16, the progress of the ongoing Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project, and various other infrastructural cooperation matters.

Present on the Bangladeshi side were Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Prime Minister's Adviser on Finance and Planning Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam, and Prime Minister's Special Assistant for Foreign Employment and Asia-Pacific Region Dr. Md. Shakirul Islam Khan.

Present on the Japanese side were Nakayama Ryeko, Assistant Vice Minister for International Aviation at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, some officials of Japan's Civil Aviation Bureau, and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Saida Shinichi.
