Storms Predicted in Five Divisions Including Dhaka, Lightning to Accompany

The weather office has forecast Kalbaishakhi (Nor'wester) and heavy rainfall accompanied by severe lightning across five divisions of the country.
Moderate to heavy thunder showers may occur in several areas of Sylhet, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Rangpur divisions. Additionally, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain or thunder showers in some areas of the northern part of Chittagong division. Scattered rainfall may also occur in one or two places elsewhere in the country.
According to the latest weather forecast issued on Saturday night, under the influence of the ongoing rain spell named 'Spark' (May 13–20), Kalbaishakhi storms with a speed of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour may sweep over the potential areas during the rainfall. In some places, the wind speed could be even higher.
At the same time, there is a risk of moderate to severe lightning, heavy rain, and hailstorms in one or two locations.
The sky in most parts of the country may remain partly cloudy to cloudy today. The cloud cover will be more prominent especially in Rangpur, Sylhet, and Mymensingh divisions. However, there is a chance of getting 5 to 8 hours of normal sunlight through the breaks in the clouds during the day, though the sun might be less visible in the northeastern region.
Met has said day and night temperatures may increase slightly across most areas of the country. However, night temperatures may remain unchanged in some places.
Although no heatwave is currently active in the country, sultry weather is being felt in many areas. While the sea is currently safe, it may temporarily become rough during the storm.
During the 24 hours until 6 PM on Saturday, the country's highest rainfall was recorded at 64 mm in Rajarhat, Kurigram. During this period, the highest temperature was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius in Khulna, and the lowest temperature was 20.5 degrees Celsius in Sylhet.
