Different parts of the country are likely to experience thunderstorms today, while some areas may see storms, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department. The forecast also said daytime temperatures may fall slightly in some places.

According to the weather forecast for Dhaka and surrounding areas for the six hours from 7 am Sunday, the sky over the capital will remain partly cloudy to temporarily cloudy today. The capital may experience rain or thundershowers. Winds may blow from the south or southeast at speeds of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour. Daytime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged today.

At 6 am Sunday, the temperature in the capital was recorded at 28.5 degrees Celsius. Humidity at that time was 86 percent. The highest temperature recorded in Dhaka yesterday was 34.5 degrees Celsius.

The weather office said three regions of the country may experience storms by this afternoon. According to the weather forecast for the country’s inland river ports from 5 am to 1 pm Sunday, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet regions may experience temporary rain or thundershowers accompanied by squally winds blowing from the south or southeast at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour. River ports in those areas have been advised to display Local Cautionary Signal No. 1.

Earlier, in its regular weather bulletin issued Saturday, the weather office said that by 6 pm Sunday, many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram and Khulna divisions may experience temporary gusty winds along with light to moderate rain or thundershowers. At the same time, moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Daytime temperatures across the country may fall slightly, while nighttime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.
