More rainfall may drench the skies of Shraban and could continue for five straight days. Its impact may be felt in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The agency said the well-marked low over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coast has weakened into a low and is now located over Gangetic West Bengal, north Odisha and adjoining areas. The axis of the monsoon trough extends through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, the center of the low and the central part of Bangladesh to Assam. One of its extensions stretches up to the northwest Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over the north Bay of Bengal.
In its forecast for the 24 hours from 6 pm Friday, the BMD said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may also occur at places across the country. Day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged nationwide, while night temperatures may fall slightly.
