Who wrote suicide note in Salman Shah's name?

A suicide note has surfaced once again on social media. On the morning of September 6, 1996, Salman Shah died at his residence at New Eskaton Garden residential area in the capital. Later, Salman's father, Kamaruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, filed an unnatural death (UD) case at Ramna Police Station. At that time, police recovered a suicide note from Salman's house.

The suicide note found by the police read: "I, Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar, father—Kamaruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, 146/5, Green Road, Dhaka-1215, alias Salman Shah, do hereby declare that if I die today or any day after today, no one will be held responsible for it. Voluntarily, consciously, and in a sound mind, I am committing suicide."

There was no signature at the end of the suicide note. Later, on July 24, 1997, alleging that his son was murdered, Kamaruddin Ahmed Chowdhury applied to convert the case into a murder investigation. At that time, the court directed the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) to investigate the allegations of murder along with the unnatural death case.

Handwriting experts from the CID subsequently examined the letter and stated that it was written in Salman Shah's own hand. However, when the suicide note was made public at the time, Salman Shah's mother, Neela Chowdhury, rejected the claim.
Neela Chowdhury had said, "We used to call him Imon. Yet the name Imon is nowhere in the letter. He lived in the Eskaton residence. The name 'Salman Shah' is also written after the address. To my knowledge, no person writes a letter specifying their father's name and address so neatly before committing suicide. This letter was written by those who murdered my son."

However, in 2020, following an investigation, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) stated that the top star of Bangali cinema, Salman Shah, committed suicide due to mental distress caused by family disputes and various other reasons, rather than being murdered.

At that time, the PBI also confirmed that the suicide note was written by Salman Shah. According to police statements, Sunil Kumar Mukherjee was a well-known handwriting expert in the police department. After extensive examination and analysis, he submitted a report confirming that the suicide note was written by Salman Shah. By meticulously verifying Salman Shah's signatures and examples of his handwriting from various times, he concluded that Salman Shah had written the suicide note himself before his death.

However, with the recent discussions surrounding Salman Shah's death, the case being turned into a homicide and being investigated accordingly. With the arrest of the case's fourth accused, Don, new questions have emerged regarding who actually wrote that suicide note.

Wikipedia adds: Shah appeared in 27 films in a short acting career of three years. He first gained attention for his debut film, Keyamat Theke Keyamat (1993), and in the following three years appeared in leading roles in a series of commercially successful films, including, Denmohor, Shujon Shokhi, Shopner Thikana, Ei Ghor Ei Shongsar, Sotter Mrittu Nei and Anondo Osru which established him as one of the most sought after leading men in the industry and a household name. Subsequently, he became the highest-paid actor in the industry. Three of his films, Shopner Thikana, Sotter Mrittu Nei and Keyamat Theke Keyamat are among the highest grossing films of all time in Dhallywood box office.
