Worker Dies During Construction of Shakira’s Concert Stage

A construction worker has died following a horrific accident during the assembly of the stage for pop star Shakira’s upcoming concert in Brazil. The incident occurred at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro during the infrastructure setup for the massive concert titled "Todo Mundo no Rio."
The organizing agency and the local fire department confirmed the tragic news. In a statement released on Instagram, the organizers explained that the worker was critically injured due to a mechanical failure while installing the stage structure on Sunday afternoon. Medical teams present at the site provided immediate first aid, and he was rushed to the hospital via a fire department ambulance. However, despite the best efforts of the doctors, he passed away while undergoing treatment.
Eyewitness Antonio Marcos Ferreira dos Santos reported that a sudden commotion broke out on the beach as a massive structure collapsed. Onlookers rushed to pull out the individual who was trapped underneath.
According to the fire department, the worker suffered severe injuries to the lower half of his body after being crushed under a lifting system used for heavy objects' movement. His colleagues managed to pull him out before emergency responders arrived. He was pronounced dead after being taken to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital.
According to the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Shakira had been confirmed as the headline act for this annual gathering at Copacabana Beach. Previous concerts at this iconic venue have drawn millions of tourists to hear world-renowned stars.
Following the tragedy, the organizers expressed their deepest condolences to the victim's family and the involved agency, promising to provide all necessary supports.
There has been no official announcement yet regarding whether the scheduled concert dates will change as a result of this accident.
