'Not many people gave me opportunity to work'

Actress Meghla Mukta, injured and bedridden after a road accident, spends her days lying in bed. As she got time, she made a long post on social media expressing frustration about her work opportunities, the reality of the industry, and her future. Meghla Mukta said that although her face and body were in a condition to work before the accident, not many people gave her the opportunity to work.

Meghla Mukta wrote, "Everyone knows that in the accident, the most damaged part was my face. My face, my body, everything was in a condition to work, yet not many people gave me that opportunity. Maybe I did not fit into their stories or their characters. I accepted that."

Acknowledging that work opportunities are limited in Bangladesh, the actress said, "It is also true that there is less work in Bangladesh. But work has not stopped completely. Work is happening constantly on some OTT platform or another. It is just that the door is not open to everyone. We all know one thing: everyone pours oil on the oily head; no one wants to pour oil on a dry head."

She also spoke about the uncertainty regarding her future while being bedridden. In Meghla's words, "Today, lying down, I think about when I will be able to work again, or whether I will be able to work at all; I do not even know that. There is a lot of uncertainty before me now. So at this moment, there is not much to do except sit and think."

However, Meghla wished her favorite directors well for their new work. She wrote, "Still, my sincere good wishes to all my favorite directors who have new work coming up. Work with the artists in your comfort zone, work with those you feel comfortable working with. Pour oil on the oily head."

Right after that, the actress reminded everyone of an important point about established artists in the industry. She said, "Just remember one thing: these oily heads were also dry heads one day. And one day, you yourselves poured oil on those dry heads. So, if not for me, then perhaps for some people who truly want to work in this industry, want to stay in it, want to create their own place, at least give them a chance."

Calling on directors to select artists through auditions, Meghla Mukta wrote, "Hold the audition. Look beyond the faces you have already fixed in advance. Maybe the person for your next good work is still standing outside your door; you just have not called them in. This is not just about me. This is about many dry heads who want to work in this industry."

The accident occurred on July 28 when Meghla was crossing a road in Banani and a speeding car hit her before fleeing the scene. Passersby and locals rescued her in a bloodied condition and took her to a hospital.

That night, actor Imtiaz Barshan, a friend and co-artist of Meghla, filed a complaint with Banani Police Station.

Meghla suffered serious injuries to her face and head in the accident. She subsequently spent nearly a month receiving treatment in an intensive care unit and a cabin. She underwent multiple facial surgeries under the supervision of expert physicians.
