Actress Sadia Jahan Prova has come under criticism on social media after making remarks standing beside actress Pori Moni. Many are taunting her by bringing up an incident involving a personal video of hers that went viral in the past. Now Prova has responded to this criticism. She has stated that people's insults or taunts cannot change her principles. She will speak out against any disrespect or harassment of any woman.
In a post on her social handle on Friday night, Prova wrote, "I will stand by any woman. I will stand a thousand times if needed. Say whatever you like about me, question my character, label me however you wish. Your insults can never change my principles."
Prova believes that even if one does not agree with everything a woman does, no one has the right to disrespect or harass her. She wrote, "I may not agree with every action of a woman. Her misconduct or abusive language toward people does not align with my personality. I do not support her behavior. But that does not give anyone the right to disrespect her, harass her, or make her feel unsafe. The judgment of her choices and character lies between her and the Almighty. There is no room for debate about her dignity."
Prova further clarified that standing beside a woman does not mean blindly supporting everything she does. Rather, the purpose is to take a stand against disrespect and harassment.
Referring to the context of Pori Moni's allegation, she wrote, "After speaking with the people present at the scene, my understanding is that the allegation brought against the journalist may not have been true. I sincerely feel compassion for what she had to endure in that situation."
The actress also responded to those who are taunting her by bringing up an incident from her past. In her words, "Those of you who want to make me feel ashamed about an incident for which I was never responsible—your accusations do not make me guilty. Your judgment does not define my identity."
Prova wrote that she finds it more acceptable to be insulted while standing beside a woman. She does not want to remain silent in order to be accepted by people who believe they have the right to determine a woman's dignity.
On November 5, Pori Moni came into the spotlight by alleging "bad touch" against a journalist at the court premises. Later, in a video message, Prova stood beside Pori Moni and also shared an unwanted experience of her own. However, after her remarks, many criticized her on social media. Now, in response to that criticism, the actress has made her position clear.
