Actress Tanjin Tisha’s membership in the Acting Artistes’ Association of Bangladesh has been suspended indefinitely. The organization has also suspended the membership of another actress, Samia Othoi.
The association made several attempts to resolve the dispute between the two actresses. However, neither of them paid heed to the organization’s initiatives. As a result, the Acting Artistes’ Association decided to take action against them.
On October 4, the association sent letters to both actresses. Earlier, on July 7, they had been served show cause notices regarding the proposed suspension of their memberships. However, neither actress responded to the notices.
Following the suspension, Tanjin Tisha went live on social media to share her reaction.
Tanjin Tisha said, “You have seen me play the role of a mad woman. Nothing was edited out. Who improvised first, who attacked first, and who attacked and then claimed to be the victim of abuse, you will be able to understand that.”
Following the incident, the Acting Artistes’ Association took the initiative to hear both sides over an extended period. The actress also spoke about the decision made at the arbitration meeting.
She said, “It was decided that both of us would issue statements apologizing and send a video message. She (Samia Othoi) did not send the video. I also could not send one for some reason. I have been sent a letter suspending my membership today because I disobeyed the notice. Fine.”
Tisha added, “I have seen a lot over the past year. I have also witnessed the sari controversy. Whether today or tomorrow, everything will come out in the open. I am just waiting for that day. Despite all the obstacles and whatever has happened over the past eight months, I have not stopped. I will not stop. I will not give up. I can say this with such confidence because I know I have done nothing wrong.”
