Actor Khairul Basar reacted with humor after Argentina national football team defeated Cape Verde national football team 3-2 to advance to the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup.
Before the match, a self-proclaimed mystic from Ghana had predicted that Argentina would lose to Cape Verde. However, Argentina secured a dramatic victory early Saturday.
Commenting on the result, Khairul Basar wrote on Facebook, “The powder mystic’s magic didn’t work! Don’t dream based on the words of mystics who blow on powder. Don’t let yourselves be deceived.”
The Bonolota Sen actor also praised Cape Verde’s performance despite the defeat.
“Do we even need to watch the final after a match like this? What an incredible battle! I feel sorry for Cape Verde. If they hadn’t been playing against Argentina, I would have used magic to keep them in the tournament. I wanted the other star teams to face them at least once. Brilliant, Cape Verde! Best wishes to you,” he wrote.
Argentina booked its place in the Round of 16 with the thrilling 3-2 victory. Captain Lionel Messi opened the scoring and set several World Cup records during the Round of 32 match.
Following the game, Messi also became the highest-scoring captain in World Cup history, taking his tally to 20 goals as captain.
