The audience is captivated by the screen presence and spectacular action sequences of Bollywood stars. However, many people may not realize how much blood, sweat and risk to life go into capturing those flawless scenes behind the camera.
Even major stars have faced serious accidents shortly after the words ‘Lights, camera, action.’ Here are some Bollywood stars who narrowly escaped death while shooting on film sets.
In 2005, Hrithik Roshan was shooting the blockbuster film ‘Krrish’ in Singapore. While performing a dangerous stunt on top of a tall building, his safety wire suddenly snapped. Hrithik plunged from a height of around 50 feet and landed directly on the canopy of a shop. Fortunately, he escaped without suffering major injuries or a life-threatening accident.
One of the most serious on set accidents in the history of Hindi cinema involved megastar Amitabh Bachchan. While shooting a fight scene for the film ‘Coolie,’ a punch by Puneet Issar landed directly on Big B’s abdomen. He fought for his life after suffering severe internal bleeding. He spent months in the hospital before recovering and returning to work.
From Khiladi Akshay Kumar to Emraan Hashmi, who recently narrowly escaped an accident while shooting the film ‘Gunmaster G9,’ several Bollywood stars have faced dangerous situations. During the shooting of a climax scene, an SUV overturned in midair and crashed right beside Hashmi.
In December 2024, Akshay Kumar suffered a serious eye injury while shooting ‘Housefull 5.’ Meanwhile, Chunky Panday required 32 stitches on his forehead after being kicked by a horse during the shooting of the film ‘Na Insaafi.’
Shahid Kapoor suffered minor burns when chemicals used to create fire fell on him during the shooting of ‘R... Rajkumar.’ In another incident, Nargis was in danger when a fire suddenly broke out during filming. Sunil Dutt jumped into the fire to save her. They later got married.
Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai had to seek medical treatment and rest after being injured when an out-of-control jeep struck her.
