US-based Bangladeshi film actor Zayed Khan has announced that Zohran Kwame Mamdani, the current Mayor of New York City, stars alongside him in the second episode of his new short film, 'Immigrant Diaries.' The short film is scheduled for release on the Thikana platform on May 27 at 9:00 PM Bangladesh time.
Directed by Jon Kabir and Saad Al Ameen, the short film centers on the lives and experiences of expatriates. Its first episode was released in March this year.
Speaking from the United States early Saturday morning, Zayed Khan said Zohran Mamdani shares screen space directly with him. He added that this achievement is not just a matter of personal pride, but an honor for the red and green flag of Bangladesh.
Regarding how Mamdani was brought into the project, Zayed explained that it was made possible through the initiative of Ruhin Hossain and his wife, Anuva Shaheen Hossain, from the US-based platform Thikana. They sent a formal proposal to the mayor via email, providing detailed background information about Zayed Khan. The mayor's office subsequently allocated a schedule for filming, and the shoot was done accordingly.
Zayed described working with one of the world's most prominent and influential mayors as a dream come true. He added that during the shoot, Zohran Mamdani diligently followed the directors' instructions and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.
