What Mehazabien said about AI videos

Mehazabien Chowdhury

Following the recent hacking of a private television channel’s Instagram page on social media, several fake videos involving two popular showbiz stars, Mehazabien Chowdhury and Pori Moni, spread rapidly. The media outlet later apologized and acknowledged the hacking incident, but the controversy and discussions continued.

Finally, Mehazabien Chowdhury has spoken out on social media against the misuse of this technology and the social ills associated with it.

In a lengthy post on her official Facebook page, Mehazabien expressed her anger and protest in strong terms. Addressing the misuse of AI technology, she wrote, “Creating false and fabricated content about someone using AI and spreading it with the intention of humiliating someone is not entertainment. It is a crime.”

Mehazabien also raised serious questions about the role of people who share such content in society rather than focusing solely on the responsibility of the perpetrators.

According to her, “When hundreds or thousands of people continue to share the same content, the issue is no longer limited to the crime of one individual. It reflects a much larger social problem. It raises the question: Where have we actually reached as a society?”

Referring to the unhealthy race for clickbait, views and earnings on social media today, she said, “A few views, a few likes, a few shares, staying trending and perhaps earning a few dollars from it... People struggle in life, and creating content is a livelihood for many. But when did humiliating and disrespecting another person become a means of earning money for us?”

The actress urged people to view the issue as a reflection of society’s lack of conscience rather than framing it around any particular gender.

She made it clear that respecting someone does not require comparing them to one’s own mother or sister. A person should be respected simply because they are a human being.

Finally, Mehazabien urged people to be more aware of the consequences of creating and spreading fake content. Addressing those who circulate such material, she asked, “What concerns me the most is the countless people who are willingly sharing it, discussing it and spreading it to thousands more. You may want to think about whether you will participate in a criminal’s wrongdoing and reveal your own lack of conscience.”
