To bring the latent and diverse talents scattered across the grassroots and every nook and corner of the country to the national and global stage, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is launching a special TV reality show, "In Search of Talent" (Protivar Sandhane).

Officials of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have said that the main objective of this initiative is to move beyond conventional singing, dancing, or comedy-based reality shows and provide a single platform for all kinds of talents. It will feature opportunities to showcase any unconventional and extraordinary skills, including traditional folk arts (such as stick fighting, puppet shows, impersonators/mimics), acrobatics and stunts, magic, robotics, drone shows, sand art, and modern technology-based innovations.

This one-year reality show will consist of a total of 52 episodes, each lasting 45 to 60 minutes, and will be broadcast simultaneously on Bangladesh Television and OTT platforms.

Sources have said that the audition process will begin with digital registration and applications through an app or online platform from home. Subsequently, talent will be evaluated through direct 'Divisional Audition Camps' in the country's 8 divisions. Following that, the final winners will be selected and awarded through a combination of studio auditions, knockout rounds, semi-finals, and public voting, culminating in a grand finale.

A panel of three legendary stars from the country's music, dance, and acting scenes will form the main judging panel for the show. Two popular hosts will present the participants' behind-the-scenes stories and backstage moments.

The main attractions of this reality show include: Red Button – the power for judges to stop a performance if they dislike it; Golden Button – an exclusive opportunity to advance a contestant directly by two rounds for an extraordinary and world-class performance; and Public Voting – where winners will be determined by direct viewer votes alongside judges' evaluations in the final stage.

Maintaining international standards like "Britain's Got Talent," this event will feature world-class premium set and lighting design. Each performance will be preceded by a cinematic backstory, highlighting the contestants' struggles.

The Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC) will be at the heart of this event. The organization's Managing Director, Masuma Rahman Tani, told BSS: "FDC has long been playing a role as the hub of the country's culture, arts, and cinema scene. However, keeping pace with the changing world, it is now the need of the hour to bring the diverse and latent talents scattered across every corner of the country to the national level, rather than confining ourselves only to traditional artistic practices. With that goal in mind, under the guidance of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, FDC is going to be involved as the organizer of one of the largest and most inclusive events in the country's history, the reality show 'In Search of Talent.'"
The Managing Director of FDC further said, "Our objective is crystal clear – alongside singing, dancing, or acting skills, this stage will become the biggest gateway to fulfilling the dreams of those who possess folk arts, physical stunts, innovative technology, or extraordinary talents but are being lost in obscurity due to the lack of a proper platform."

Officials of FDC said that if given the opportunity, unique, world-class talented artists and innovators will emerge from every part of the grassroots. This national initiative, blending international standards with modern production, will not only provide state recognition to the country's peripheral talents but will also play a groundbreaking role in making them economically and socially self-reliant.

To make this initiative successful, they have sought the all-out cooperation of the nation and the media.

FDC Managing Director Masuma Rahman Tani said, "Since the independence of our country, countless extraordinary and diverse talents have been hidden in every corner of rural Bengal and the grassroots. Due to a lack of opportunity and suitable platforms, these marginalised talents often remain outside the spotlight. To develop this latent potential and to create a dignified position for them at national and international levels, we are organizing the reality show 'In Search of Talent.'"

Regarding this, Information and Broadcasting Deputy Minister Yaser Khan Chowdhury said, "The current BNP government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has always believed in the proper evaluation of young people's talents and the politics of creating diverse employment opportunities for them. We are building an inclusive platform for the talented – where the intellect of the new generation will converge."

He said, "This world-class initiative will not only provide entertainment but will also revive the talents scattered in the grassroots and play a unique role in socially establishing talented individuals who have been deprived of opportunities. We believe this national effort will inspire the next generation to build themselves as confident and self-reliant individuals."

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting hopes that "In Search of Talent" will open new horizons – in making self-reliant the artists who are being lost due to lack of opportunity and publicity, reviving traditional folk culture, and encouraging the new generation to develop their own potential.
