Salman Muqtadir faces backlash for defending accused

In Madan of Netrokona, an 11-year-old girl has allegedly become six months pregnant after being raped by a madrasa teacher. The family fears for the child’s life.
On April 23, the girl’s mother filed a case at Madan Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, naming madrasa teacher Aman Ullah Sagar as the accused.
Police arrested Sagar early Tuesday from Gouripur upazila in Mymensingh. However, even before the arrest, actor and content creator Salman Muqtadir came under fire for a post on social media. Many users expressed anger at Salman, questioning how he conducted a DNA test before the accused was arrested.
What did Salman Muqtadir write?
On social media, he wrote, “A post had gone viral claiming that an 11-year-old girl had been impregnated by her madrasa teacher. The entire country, including myself, erupted in outrage against such a monster. But today, reports from investigation and DNA-related findings suggest that the person who was publicly humiliated across the internet is not the real culprit. Instead, allegations point toward the girl’s own grandfather.”
Criticism against Salman began immediately after the post. Later, while keeping his original statement intact, he added another line amid the backlash. He wrote, “Other sources are also calling this a rumor. Simply put, there is still no confirmed name, confirmed DNA report, or clear investigation result.”
Public Reaction
Social media users heavily criticized Salman Muqtadir for the post. They flooded the comment section with sharp remarks.
One user wrote, “Where did they obtain the DNA sample of a fugitive accused for cross-matching?” Another commented, “Where did you get the DNA report? For your information, DNA reports do not come that quickly. Even in urgent cases, it usually takes 24 to 48 hours. What is your source?”
A user named Tasnia wrote, “How can a DNA test report come so quickly? It should take at least 15 days. In Bangladesh, it may take at least a month. Also, how can testing be done while the baby is still in the womb? Is there a separate method for this?”
So far, more than 3,200 comments have been posted, most of them raising such questions and criticizing Salman over the post. Social media users have also criticized both the post and Salman on their own timelines. However, the widely discussed YouTuber has not responded to any of the criticism.
