I do not agree to intimate scenes unless necessary: Radhika Apte

Radhika Apte

Actress Radhika Apte has long been known for choosing unconventional roles. She has played various types of characters throughout her acting career. However, the actress said that some people in the industry developed a certain perception of her because of her performances in some bold scenes.

In a recent interview, Radhika said that after acting in bold scenes in several films at the beginning of her career, many people assumed that she could be asked to perform such scenes regardless of whether they were necessary for the script.

Radhika said she has always questioned whether a particular scene is necessary for the story. She is not willing to perform intimate scenes simply to make a scene more appealing if there is no logical reason for them in the script.

The actress said there have been instances when she was asked to do a kissing scene with a costar without being given any specific explanation of why the scene was necessary. She was even offered such scenes as brief “improvisations.” She questioned why such a scene should suddenly be added if it was not necessary for the story.

Radhika also recalled another incident in which she was asked not to button her clothes during an action scene in a film. She claimed that she was later asked to wear even more revealing clothing. She was surprised by such suggestions and questioned their logic.

Radhika’s comments have once again brought attention to the necessity of intimate or bold scenes in films and the issue of performers’ consent. The main point of her statement is that if a scene is necessary for the story, then it is one matter. But an actor should not be pressured to perform such scenes when they have no connection to the story.
