Actor Nana Patekar dies of heart attack

Veteran Indian actor Nana Patekar, known for his powerful and iconic performances, is no more. The 75-year-old star died at his residence early Thursday after suffering a heart attack. His death has cast a shadow of grief over the entertainment industry.
According to hospital sources, he suddenly fell ill in the morning. A medical team immediately tried to save him and performed CPR continuously for 45 minutes. He was later taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead at 5:20 am.
Dr. Shekhar Salkar, head of the oncology department at Manipal Hospital in Goa, confirmed the news to Indian media and said, “He died while undergoing treatment after suffering a severe heart attack. As per procedure the incident has been registered as a medico legal case and an autopsy will be conducted.”
With his commanding performances, distinctive dialogue delivery and powerful personality Nana Patekar ruled the hearts of audiences for decades. His performances in numerous popular films including Krantiveer, Tirangaa, Parinda and Welcome have remained iconic.
In recognition of his outstanding acting, he received several honors including three National Film Awards. Following the sudden death of the beloved actor Bollywood figures and fans from around the world are expressing their condolences and paying tribute on social media.
