6 newborns die in alleged gas leak at Ad-Din Hospital

Six newborn babies have reportedly died due to a suspected gas leak in the neonatal ward of Ad-din Medical College Hospital in the Moghbazar area of the capital.
On Wednesday (May 27), Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) of the Ramna Division under Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Sheikh Ziaul Islam, confirmed the incident.
Hospital Director (Administration) Tarikul Islam also confirmed the deaths. However, he said he could not immediately provide details on how the gas leak occurred or the identities of the victims.
Following the incident, members of law enforcement visited the hospital. Authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the gas leak and the exact cause of death.
