PM Tarique Rahman Set for First Cox’s Bazar Visit Since Taking Office

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit the coastal city of Cox’s Bazar for the first time since assuming office. The Prime Minister’s Press Wing announced the visit on Sunday.
According to the schedule, the prime minister will depart from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Cox’s Bazar by air at 8 pm on June 13. Upon arrival at Cox’s Bazar Airport, he will spend the night at the Circuit House.
The following day, June 14, he will inaugurate the excavation of the Patli-Machhuakhali canal in PM Khali Union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila at 10:30 am. He is also scheduled to address a brief roadside gathering organized on the occasion.
The prime minister will then travel by road to Dulahazara Safari Park in Chakaria Upazila. There, he will launch a nationwide program to plant 250 million trees and tour the safari park.
He will later visit the grave of Wasim Akram, a resident of Pekua Upazila who was martyred during the July 24 movement, and meet members of his family.
At 1:30 p.m., the prime minister will attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the newly formed Matamuhuri Upazila and take part in a prayer. He will then travel to Pekua to lay the foundation stone of the newly established Pekua Municipality and participate in another prayer.
After prayers and lunch, he will leave for Chakaria Upazila, where he will address a public rally as the chief guest in the Chakaria municipal area. Following the rally, the prime minister will return to Cox’s Bazar and inspect the Marine Drive Road and the sea beach.
At 7:30 pm, he will exchange views with distinguished citizens at either the Cox’s Bazar Cultural Center or the regional center of the BIAM Foundation. He is scheduled to depart Cox’s Bazar for Dhaka at 9 pm, concluding the visit.
