Three killed in mine explosion at Ghumdhum border

Three people were killed in a mine explosion at the Ghumdhum border in Naikhyongchhari upazila of Bandarban.
The incident took place on Sunday near boundary pillar No. 42 along the zero line of the Bangladesh–Myanmar border. The information was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozammel Haque of Naikhyongchhari Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Akyamong Tanchanga (40), Chikyang Tanchanga (34), and Saifuching Tanchanga (32). They were residents of Balukya Para in Ward No. 8 of Ghumdhum union.
According to police, the victims were working in a banana field in the zero point area when the mine exploded, killing them on the spot.
OC Mozammel Haque said the bodies are being brought to the police station, after which further details will be known.
