Five people, including a madrasa director, allegedly kidnapped an eighth-grade female student in Gazipur Sadar upazila.
Joydebpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Al Mamun confirmed the matter. The victim’s father filed a case on Sunday night after failing to locate his daughter.
The primary accused in the case is Ariful Islam, 29, who serves as the founder director and head teacher of Darul Ma’arif Hossainia (Qawmi) Madrasa and Markazul Quran Adarsha Mohila Madrasa. The case also names four accomplices: his brother Md Sharif Miah, 35, his father Md Selim Miah, 55, his mother Rahima Khatun, 40, and Md Delowar Hossain, 45.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the girl studied in the eighth grade at Markazul Quran Adarsha Mohila Madrasa. Ariful repeatedly harassed the student, threatening to abduct her by force when she rejected his proposals.
After the student disclosed the harassment to her family, her relatives advised her to remain cautious and requested Ariful to stop. Nevertheless, the FIR notes that he persisted in issuing threats and intimidation.
When she arrived at the madrasa on 10 October, Ariful abducted her and took her away with the assistance of Sharif, Selim, Rahima, and Delowar. Upon discovering the incident through various sources, the girl’s father searched several locations but could not locate his daughter, prompting him to seek legal action.
OC Mamun said drives are ongoing to rescue the student and arrest the accused.
