Bus Crash Kills Mother, Two Daughters in Netrokona

A mother and her two daughters were killed after a bus ran over the battery-powered easy bike they were traveling in in Netrokona Sadar Upazila. The accident occurred on the Netrokona-Mymensingh Highway in the Challisha area on Sunday afternoon. Five people, including the easy bike driver, sustained serious injuries in the crash.
The deceased were identified as Noorjahan Begum, 45, wife of Ainul Haque of Amli Keshabpur village in Sadar Upazila, and her daughters Smriti Akter (15), and Sumaiya Akter, also known as Iti (9).
Eyewitnesses said that at around 11:00 a.m., a Mahua Paribahan bus traveling from Mymensingh to Netrokona ran over an easy bike coming from the opposite direction in the Challisha Bypass area. Noorjahan Begum died on the spot.
Locals rushed the seven injured victims, including the easy bike driver, to the 250-bed Netrokona District Hospital. Doctors later declared Noorjahan’s two daughters, Smriti and Sumaiya, dead.
Following the accident, local residents blocked the highway and staged protests for nearly two hours. Later, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari and police officials brought the situation under control.
Hafizul Islam, spokesperson for Netrokona District Police and Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch), confirmed the information. He said authorities admitted the five injured victims to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment.
