A motorcycle was completely gutted by fire in Barguna while attempting to take on excess petrol. The rider fled the scene following the incident, and the remains of the motorcycle are currently being kept at the local police station.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 PM this Thursday in the Paschim Barguna vicinity Barguna Sadar Upazila. It is reported that a biker came along at a fuel retail outlet named Barguna Traders for refuelling.

During the refueling process, the tank overflowed with excess petrol, which leaked onto the motorcycle's spark plug, instantly triggering a fire. The flames quickly spread to a nearby oil drum, causing widespread panic in the surrounding area.

Locals managed to bring the fire under control using fire extinguishers. While major damage was averted, the motorcycle was entirely incinerated. The rider abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene immediately after the incident; his identity could not be known.

Ujjwal Hossain, the owner of the fuel outlet, stated that fuel was being supplied to vehicles as per the regular routine, but the accident was caused while attempting to obtain excess petrol. The burnt motorcycle was later handed over to the police.

ASI Md. Manjurul Islam of Barguna Sadar Police Station said that police officers were present at the scene to maintain law and order. Efforts are currently underway to identify and locate the biker.
