Imam caught living with another man’s wife in Barishal

A mosque imam faces allegations of abandoning his own wife and fleeing with another man’s wife in Bakerganj, Barishal.
Locals and family members of the imam’s first wife caught the couple on charges of living together as husband and wife for around seven months without marriage.
The accused, Abdullah Tuhin, was serving as the imam of Banglabazar Jame Mosque in Darial Union under Bakerganj Upazila.
According to local sources, Tuhin married a woman named Sadia around five years ago. Meanwhile, while serving as an imam, he allegedly developed a close relationship with a married woman living in a neighboring house.
The woman eventually left her husband to leave with Tuhin. Locals noted that Tuhin arrived in Darial Union with the woman about seven months ago. After assuming responsibility as the imam at Banglabazar Jame Mosque, he brought her to live in a rented house adjacent to the mosque.
On Wednesday, locals and members of Sadia’s family went to the rented house and caught them. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene and took Tuhin.
Locals reported that police sent him back to his home area in Kalapara, Patuakhali. The woman found with Tuhin could not be reached for comment, and efforts to contact Tuhin for his statement were also unsuccessful.
