Bus falls into ditch in Sarail; death toll rises to 4

In a bus accident in Sarail, Brahmanbaria, a child has also reportedly died. With this, four passengers of the bus have been killed. At least 20 others have been injured. Several seriously injured have been sent to the Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital. The accident occurred around 12 PM today (Monday) in Baishamura area of Sarail on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khatihata Highway Police Station, Abu Taher Dewan, confirmed the deaths of three people in the accident. They are: Arshad Ali Munshi (70) of Shahbazpur village in Sarail Upazila, Moususi Das (30) of Katiara village in Madhabpur Upazila, and Tanay Majumdar (23) of Ibrahimpur village in Nabinagar Upazila.
He said at noon, the bus of Diganta Paribahan fell into a ditch while crossing the Baishamura area of Sarail. Highway police recovered three bodies from inside the bus. However, Riaz Muhammad, Station Leader of Sarail Fire Service, citing locals, said that a child also died at the scene. The child's family took the body away before police and fire service personnel arrived. The other three bodies have been taken to the police station.
Speaking to people present at the scene, it was learned that the child's home is in Bariura village of Noagaon Union. When contacted, the Union Parishad Chairman of that area, Mansur Ahmed, confirmed the child's death. According to his information, the child's name was Alif (7). His father's name is Sabuj Mia. The chairman said that stunned by the accident, relatives took Alif's body and returned home.
OC Abu Taher Dewan of Khatihata Highway Police said the cause of the accident is being investigated.
