The New Gini housing project in the ECB Chattar area of the capital has come under attack again. Police have arrested several people allegedly involved in the attack. The attack took place around 4 pm on Saturday.

Cantonment Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gias Uddin confirmed the attack to Agamir Somoy on Saturday evening. He said, "We received news of the attack through the National Emergency Service 999 and sent a force to the scene. We are working on this matter. We will be able to provide details later."

Regarding the attack, Saiful Islam Bhuiya, the complainant in the case over the first attack on the New Gini housing, said, "The same terrorists involved in the previous attack were involved in today's (Saturday's) attack. Local Jubo League leader Babul and alleged terrorist Rubel colluded with them. After we informed the police station about the matter, police came and arrested 7 to 8 people and took them to the station."

Saiful further said, "The weapons used in the previous attack were not recovered. In this attack, security guards and construction workers had their mobile phones and money snatched at gunpoint. Police recovered several mobile phones, but the walkie-talkies used in the project work have not yet been recovered."

Earlier, on the night of September 26, the housing project of New Gini Properties was attacked, vandalized and looted. At that time, the studio of content creator Salman Muktadir was also vandalized and looted. A video released by Salman Muktadir on social media about the incident sparked widespread discussion.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) has still not been able to arrest Md. Jubraj, identified as one of the "coordinators" of that attack. Sources involved in the investigation claim that Jubraj, a member of the force of Md. Ibrahim alias "Killer" Ibrahim, the BNP convenor of Bhashantek Police Station and a member of two terrorist gangs in Mirpur, coordinated the attack.

Sources involved in the investigation said that on the day of September 26 attack, 13 people had planned the attack while sitting in a restaurant at ECB Chattar. At that time, Shahriar Mahmud, the No. 1 accused in the case, contacted Md. Ibrahim and struck a deal of Tk one crore for the attack. Later, Ibrahim gathered people and assigned Jubraj the responsibility for the attack.

So far, 11 people have been arrested in connection with the incident on charges of planning and directly taking part in the attack. Eight of them have been released on bail.
