New schedule for metro rail operation during Eid holidays

The Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has announced a revised schedule for metro rail operations ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha. It has been stated that metro rail services will remain completely suspended on the day of Eid.

The information was disclosed on Thursday in a notice signed by Md. Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, Deputy Project Director (Public Relations) of DMTCL.

According to the notice, on holiday days, trains will depart from Uttara North station at 6:30 am and from Motijheel at 7:15 am. The last train from Uttara North will leave at 9:30 pm, while the last train from Motijheel will depart at 10:10 pm.

During the Eid holidays, trains will operate with a headway of 12 to 15 minutes. A total of 7 train sets will be in service, resulting in approximately 140 trips. However, the number of trips may be increased or decreased depending on passenger demand, the notice said.

The new schedule also includes rules for ticket sales. For single-journey tickets, purchases will be available from 6:40 am to 9:20 pm. MRT and Rapid Pass top-ups can also be done during this time. After 9:20 pm, ticket vending machines and ticket counters will be closed.

On Fridays, however, single-journey tickets and MRT/Rapid Pass top-ups will be available at Uttara North station from 2:45 pm, and at Motijheel station from 3:05 pm.
