A bus rammed into the back of a dump truck on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in Mithapukur, Rangpur, leaving three people dead and at least 12 others injured on Wednesday.

Bordorga Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moazzem Hossain confirmed the incident. Police could not immediately identify the casualties.

OC Moazzem said a bus belonging to Khan Paribahan hit a parked dump truck in the Bairagiganj area of Mithapukur. The collision killed one person instantly at the scene. When police and the fire service rushed the injured to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, two more people succumbed to their injuries there.

Police sent the bodies to the hospital morgue and traffic has returned to normal.
