2 children die with measles symptoms in Sylhet

Two children died with measles-like symptoms in Sylhet division over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 105.
Sylhet Health Department Assistant Director Mohammad Nure Alam Shamim confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
He reported that from 1 January to 21 July, a total of 545 cases of measles and rubella have been confirmed through laboratory tests in Sylhet. This includes 56 cases in Habiganj (with 2 cases of rubella), 22 in Moulvibazar, 287 in Sunamganj, and 180 patients in the Sylhet district.
In the last 24 hours, 51 suspected patients have been admitted to various facilities. Among them, 28 were admitted to Shahid Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital, 20 to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, and one each to Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital, North East Hospital, and Sunamganj District Sadar Hospital.
No new lab-confirmed measles or rubella cases were identified. A total of 273 suspected measles patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the division.
Health Department has urged the public to ensure routine vaccinations for children and to seek immediate medical care at the nearest health center if symptoms such as fever and skin rashes or other measles-like symptoms appear.
