Indian border guards (BSF) made a sixth attempt to push 10 individuals into Bangladesh through the Mujibnagar border in Meherpur. However, faced with resistance from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local villagers, the BSF was forced to take them back from the zero line of the border.
The incident occurred early Monday morning at the Nazirakona border point in the upazila.
Locals said the attempt was made to push the 10 people into Bangladesh through Main Pillar No. 110 of the international border, from the side of Patharghata village under Tehatta police station in India's Nadia district.
Naik Subedar Mozammel Haque, commander of the Nazirakona BGB camp, confirmed the matter and said that BSF members had attempted to push 10 people through the border. However, due to resistance from BGB and local villagers, the BSF withdrew them from the zero line.
With this, the BSF has made six failed push-in attempts at the Meherpur border in June this year. Earlier, attempts were made on June 6 at the Tetulbaria border (6 people), on June 19 at the Khalpara border in Buripota union (4 people), on June 25 at the Sheoratola border in Gangni upazila (7 people), at the Dhala border (3 people), and at the Kazipur border (2 people).
