Suspicious movement outside PM's residence, youth detained

Police have detained a suspicious young man from outside the Prime Minister's official residence in Gulshan, Dhaka.
Police reported that the youth was taken into custody around 12:00 PM today, Sunday, from in front of the Navana Building, located directly opposite the Prime Minister's residence at Gulshan-2.
The detainee has been identified as Md. Shakil Mia, son of Md. Abdur Rahim, hailing from Korati village in the Tarail upazila of Kishoreganj district.
Gulshan Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sakhawat Hossain said that Shakil was loitering around the perimeter of the Prime Minister's residence. When security personnel grew suspicious and questioned him, he failed to provide clear or satisfactory answers.
As Shakil's statements were incoherent, security officers detained him and notified Gulshan Police Station. Police subsequently arrived at the scene and transferred him to the station.
SI Sakhawat added that legal proceedings against Shakil are currently underway.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman returned home early this morning following his official visit to the United Nations.
